Please

Don't words look funny when you write them over and over again?

I need some assistance....I want a new camera. I need someone to talk me into it, talk me out of it, tell me what to get, what not to get, when to get it...

Problem 1: I currently have a very nice camera. However my hubby and I share it. He gets mad at me when I change the settings. I'm always changing the settings.

Problem 2: I currently have a very nice camera. I don't want to take it everywhere I go for fear that I will lose it, break it, have it stolen etc...

Problem 3: I really, really want to do a 365 and after seeing this I realized it's time to take the plunge. See problem 2 again.

Possible solution: I'm thinking of getting an advanced point and shoot. Something not too big that I can easily carry around but that still takes decent photos.

Can you help?
What camera do you use?
Which camera would you recommend?

I'm a Canon girl so I'm leaning in that direction but I would love to hear your thoughts.

I'd like to stay in the $300 range.

Thank you in advance for all your recommendations and help.

XOXO

Hi Miss Shelby - While I can not suggest a camera I definitely think you should get a new one. You need one of your very own! You deserve it and then Rich won't get mad when you change the settings. Also, you use it a TON and you can get a warranty plan on it so if it does happen to get stolen you can get a new one for FREE!!!! Also, I think you should suggest one for me...

I know what you mean about not wanting to haul your big canera around all the time. I am a Canon girl all the way and I just bought a nice little point and shoot elph 10MP with a metal body. It is the Powershot Elph SD790
I am happy and it was only about $300 Canadian which for you would be like $225 Cheap!
Love your work!

hmm.. to really recommend, I would need more information on what you want to do with the cam.
what is important for you? iso? pixel?

my first thought was the canon 5d to get into the more professional way.
but you said you want to be able to carry it with you.
hm...
what cam do you use now? are you used to reflex cameras?
the 1000d is quite like the 450d, the 1000d is more for real amateurs who want to keep it simple but also want to have a reflex camera.
reflex cameras are of course bigger than compact kameras, so i would recommend a little bag (they're quite cheap now) to carry it everywhere.

if you need more specific help - let me know. i'd be glad to help out.

your blog is the cutest thing ever! you're so good at this! :) just saw your tag on flickr.
yes!!! you should do 365! You would have the best photos! my sister has a canon p&s that she loves and i can't believe how good some of the shots turned out that she took with it in africa. I can e-mail her and find out what it is.... but if you just get one of the top of the line p&s from canon you can't go wrong.

Shelbs, Bryan has the Canon G9 and really likes it - I think it's a tad bulky but takes great pics- I've used it before. May be a bit above your price range but worth looking into :)

Hey! I have a Canon S5 IS, by no means is it a super fancy camera...but it fits in my purse so it's with me 24/7, takes greats pics and has an awesome 12x zoom. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants something smaller (it still weighs about a lb) but that will take great photos and still fit in your purse. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=15207 I think it runs about $350 right now. Hope that helps! :)

I use a Nikon D40 SLR but I'm reading with interest these comments, because I'm looking for a take-everywhere camera, too! Let us know what you choose. :)
