13 days into my 365 and I'm already hating the direction its going. My attitude toward it is more of "I have to take a picture today" rather than "I want or get to take a picture today." And when I have to take that picture I end up grabbing something around my house to snap a photo of and call it a day. Ugh.
Whenever I'm looking for inspiration two of my favorite places to go are It's Mary Ruffle and Blissful Inspiration.
But I need a little more help from you guys. I think the best way to get me through this is to have weekly themes...think flowers, self portraits or more technical like depth of field, lighting etc. I'm open to anything (well almost anything)
So if you promise to leave me some suggestions, I promise that some time over the next 352 days I will use your idea.
XOXO,
Shelby

How about a week of sporting events (surfing, kids playing soccer, jogging, etc.). Weather is changing so folks will be outdoors. Action pictures. :-)
Oh thanks Aunt Candy! I like that idea. I'll have to wait a little longer so it's still light when I get home from work and hit the beach or the park. But it's on the list!
FUN! I vote more food pics (surprise), and your expert advice on shooting food. Also, I love "in the moment pics" - like shots at your desk or looking out the car window on your drive home. Really, anything you shoot is gorgeous! Good luck!
Do a week of babies, self portraits, weddings, ect. Show off what you can do so people will see a portfolio and hire you :)
Thanks Jackie! Food pics are soooo hard! But I'll try it! What I really need is someone like you to make a meal with awesome presentation and then I'll shoot that! ;)
Thanks Lynne :) I'm workin on that! How about you and Joe take a trip down here and I'll photograph you guys??
First thing that comes to mind is black and white photo week! Season's are changing (again) so how about black and white nature pics!
Ok we will be on the next flight. I still want to do those soccer pics we talked about :)
Thanks Mal! I've been thinking about doing B&Ws!
Lynnie - totally forgot about that! Ha! It's a MUST
Ha! I was going to say FOOD too... surprise, surprise. What about a week of Zulu? :)
ohhh - definitely use the balloons! one of my favorite things to snap photos of is architectural details, as well as little objects around the house (like jewelry in a pretty dish or my bulletin board... everyday stuff that means something). good luck shelby! i'll be checking in :)
James - I can totally do a week of Zulu! Easy!
Cassie - Thanks for the ideas! Love them all!
How about a week of a certain color? Like, maybe a week where you photograph different things in green or pink. Children? Books? Animals? Flowers? Hmmm... they all sound a little generic, but I'm sure you can make it interesting!
LOL, the soccer trading cards! That was hilarious!!
I personally love pics of your weekends, that way I can keep up! :)
What about doing a week of challenges? Shoot something you've had trouble with before... think skylines, moving cars, or shadows... good luck shelz
Thanks Vanessa for the ideas! I love the idea of colors and books, too!
And Stace - I MUST do challenges! I love that idea - I need to remember to keep pushing myself. xoxo
Do a week of finding beauty in unexpected places :) example: gas station, etc. I dunno could be fun!
Also you totally should do some funky self portraits one week :) your super photogenic- embrace it!
As someone already doing the 365days project (and messed it up one time before) I know how difficult it is to take photos sometimes. It is really wise not to make it a self-portrait project only, because honestly I am tired of seeing my face...
The best thing in my opinion is not to leave the job for "later", because when I do this I keep postponing it until it's 11:56 and then I have no other option but take a lame photo. So taking at least a couple of shots in the morning is a good idea.
Starting a series is also a good choice, because although it doesn't last through the whole project, it is something that keeps you inspired for a week or so and what is more, it makes you want to take photos, creative ones :)
good luck with that, I hope this was of some help :)
Thanks Ashley - some funky SPs are a must and I love the idea of finding beauty in unexpected places. Sounds challenging but fun!
Iva - really good advice, I think I'll do a serious of morning shots and see how that goes and then try to stick with taking shot earlier throughout the whole process. I appreciate your comment!!
I, too, heart Blissful Inspiration. :)
I know how you feel. This is probably pretty bad to say, but I'm always inspired when I go shopping. Whether it's seeing how they arrange things for display, or even just buying a little something to take a photo of, I always get ideas afterwards.
You are doing a FABULOUS job so far!!
Thanks Mary - you're too sweet! And I love the advice...any excuse to go shopping!
